  3. 2 Samuel 13 records the violent story of Amnon raping his half-sister, Tamar.  Adding insult to injury, out of hatred he sent her away.  When David heard of this, he was furious (v. 21), yet failed to punish his son.  Absalom, Tamar's full brother, nursed his hatred of Amnon for two years before orchestrating his assassination (vv. 22-29).
